Abstract
A retrospective study conducted on 246 patients from January 2020 to February 2021 having mature cataract /dense cataract undergoing phacoemulsification with foldable IOL under TA , where optical biometry failed to provide axial lengths were included. Patients with pre-existing anterior and posterior segment pathology were excluded. Detailed preop examination was done. Biometry was done by two experienced optometrists. Study included 137 males and 107 females. Age groups were between 19-79 yrs, pre-op vision was between 4/60- PL+, 1month postop best corrected visual acuity was 6/6-6/9, mean postop spherical equivalent was 0.582D. Immersion ultrasound method is reliable for measuring axial lengths and has special role in patients with dense ocular media.
