Abstract
Dome-shaped macula is a rare finding in highly myopic eyes with staphyloma detected on optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Here, we report a case of 14 y/F brought by her mother to Ophthalmology OPD with chief complaint of deviation of right eye outwards intermittently since 1 year. Distant visual acuity was recorded as FC at 3m improving to 6/9p in right eye and 6/9 improving to 6/6 in left eye using Snellen’s chart. Exotropia was noted in right eye. Anterior segment examination revealed probable megalocornea in both eyes and a nebulomacular opacity at 5 o’clock position near pupillary margin measuring 1mm*1mm in size, rest was within normal limits. Posterior segment examination revealed disc pallor, myopic disc, shallow cup and dull macular reflex and hyperpigmented macula in the right eye. BE SD-OCT was done which showed elevation of macula in right eye. Therefore, we present a rare association of dome shaped macular phenotype with asymmetric high myopia and megalocornea.
