Abstract
Purpose: To study various ocular manifestation and treatment for Rhino-Orbital-Cerebral Mucormycosis (ROCM).
Materials: Retrospective, single-center study with 20 cases of probable ROCM. Demography, ocular manifestation, risk factors, treatments and diagnostic tests were documented.
Results: 15 patients(75%) had recent COVID infection. Decrease of vision(20), ptosis(08), restricted ocular movements(08), periocular oedema(10), proptosis(08), black necrotic crust(1), facial palsy(1), associated neurological symptoms(10) were the presentations.12(60%) had systemic steroids and 8(40%) had oxygen support as a part of COVID treatment. Diabetes was in 17(85%). Retro-orbital Amphotericin B was given to 14 (70%)patients and 2(10%) eyes were exentrated.
CONCLUSION- COVID with Diabetes treated with systemic steroid and oxygen was a factor for epidemic of ROCM. Visual acuity was improved in patients who got Retro-orbital Amphotercin B and had good vision at presentation.
