Abstract
PURPOSE:Retrospective observational non-control case series study to assess necessity NLDO management in the treatment of corneal ulcer. METHOD:Thirteen eyes from13 patients with active and non healing corneal ulcer were included. The diagnosis of corneal ulcer was made based on clinical manifestations, and bacterial/fungus culture. The presence/absence of lacrimal duct obstruction was determined by the lacrimal duct irrigation test. Lacrimal irrigation examination consisted of punctal dilatation, lacrimal sac massage, and irrigation with saline to determine the point of obstruction. RESULT:After medical treatment, cornea debridement, and DCR the ulceration was progressed in the first week. However, After three to four weeks of DCR surgery , infection was controlled and corneal epithelium healed .Final outcome was satisfactory. CONCLUSION I have proposed that a proper diagnosis and treatment of lacrimal duct obstruction should be considered in the management of Corneal ulcer.
