Abstract
Purpose: To depict accuracy of AcuSimX,a predictive tool in estimating post refractive surgery corneal stiffness (CS), and to choose right refractive procedure
Methods: AcuSimX helped build patient-specific iFEM model with preoperative (PREOP) Corvis-ST deformation, Pentacam-HR tomography 3D volume & intended aspheric ablation profile. Using inverse methods, it estimated biomechanics from PREOP measurements. Using above details specific to surgery it gave POSTOP CS that was refined by in-built database of 3000 post-surgery eyes, CS outcomes &Lasso Regression AI.
Results: Interclass correlation(ICC)between measured & predicted POST OP CS was 0.91.Difference between predicted & measured POSTOP CS was 4.02 [2.85,5.2],3.69[2.36,5.03]&2.8[1.16,4.43] N/m for LASIK,SMILE &PRK.
Conclusion: Excellent ICC (> 0.9) demonstrated accuracy of post-surgery predictions. This established AcuSimX as first biomechanical simulation software for choosing the right procedure and means to avoid ectasia.
