Abstract
AIM OF THE STUDY- To evaluate the pattern and outcomes of closed globe injury patients during pandemic.
MATERIALS & METHODS- A cross sectional study was conducted on 80 patients with closed globe injury attending the emergency department and OPD between July 2020 to June 2021. Demographic details and ophthalmological findings were recorded and analysis was done.
RESULT- Closed globe injury was common in males(60%) and females(40%), the causes being home-based injuries and assault(60%) during lockdown restrictions and accidental causes(70%) during lockdown relaxation period. Common injuries in anterior segment were hyphaema(40%) and lens subluxation(30%). In posterior segment, vitreous haemorhage (50%) and retinal detachment (20%) were common.
CONCLUSION- Early evaluation and immediate medical attention is important for early visual rehabilitation of patients.
