Abstract
Purpose:To report the outcomes of glueless, suturelessintrascleral fixation of 3-piece intraocular lens using a modified tuck technique
Methods:Retrospective interventional study of 250 aphakic eyes which underwent modified tuck technique of SFIOL.Anatomical and functional outcomes obtained were statistically analyzed
Results:250 eyes of 246 patients were included in the study. The average age was 56.5 years ± 16.4(range 6-86 years). BCVA improved from 0.740 logMAR to 0.480 logMAR(p<0.001) post-surgery.Early postoperative complications werehypotony(4%),ocular hypertension(15.2%)and vitreous haemorrhage(20%).Late complications included retinal detachment(5.6%),cystoid macularoedema(9.6%),scleral erosion(0.4%),haptic extrusion(1.2%)and IOLsubluxation or dislocation(2%).No difference noted between junior and senior surgeons(p>0.05)
Conclusion:Thiscost effective technique of suturelessscleral fixated 3-piece IOL implantation provided good visual acuity outcomes in a large cohort of patients
