Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To compare Barrett TK Toric Calculator to measured PCA using Pentacam in toric IOL power calculation in terms of mean APE,Percentage of eyes with APE≤0.25D,0.50D,0.75D,1.0D.

STUDY DESIGN:Prospective,comparative

METHODOLOGY:Toric IOL power was calculated using 3 methods-Online(Alcon)Toric Calculator,Barrett TK Toric Calculator and using measured PCA of Pentacam in Barrett Toric Calculator.The IOL power suggested by the Online Toric Calculator was implanted for 118 patients.6 weeks postoperative manifest refraction was done.

OUTCOME MEASURES:Mean APE

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS:Vector analysis was done to find APE.

RESULTS:The mean APE of the Online Toric Calculator (0.32D), Barrett TK Toric(0.34D) and measured PCA of Pentacam in Barrett Toric calculator(0.33D) were found to be similar with no statistically significant difference.

CONCLUSIONS:Since direct measurements of PCA did not outperform the predicted PCA in eyes with virgin cornea, we can continue using the predicted PCA.
