Abstract
Buonsanti Dual hooks is a novel device that can be used together or separately as capsule and/or iris hooks.
Its a iris retractor and a capsule hook, altogether in one, so it goes trough the same incision.
Its been reported to have zonular inestability in about 10% cases of pseudoexfoliation.
Sometimes they tend to have both issues, small pupil and zonulopathy.
Nowadays we need an intraocular device for pupil and capsule hooks, a sutured segment or tension ring to manage these patients. With Buonsanti dual hooks we could get a nice pupil size, and if needed, trough the incisions already made, insert the capsule hooks.
Also sometimes capsule inestability is adressed during capsulorhexis, or a small pupil can make us miss a zonular issue, so we can use them for countertraction and afterwards during phaco.
It will replace the need of having them separately. In cases of floppy iris+zonulopathy, pupil stretching or intraocular devices are not recomended.
Presented atASCRS a great innovation
