Abstract
PURPOSE- To report a case of orbital myocysticercosis and the challenges involved in its management.
METHOD- 38 year male presented with complaints of drooping of upper eyelid since 2 weeks. Visual acuity of both eyes were 6/6.On examination right eye, severe ptosis and restriction of lateral rectus was noted. Fundus findings were within normal limit. On B scan fluid filled cyst was noted. On FLAIR MRI diagnosis of lateral rectus myocysticercosis was confirmed. Patient was started on T.Albendazole 400 mg OD and T. Prednisolone tapering dose. Patient presented back within 1 week of starting the treatment, with acneform eruptions all over the body. Patient was referred to dermatologist, where he was diagnosed to have allergic reaction to steroid, which was managed as per dermatology opinion while continuing steroid medication.
RESULT- On 2 month follow up cyst was found to have reduced in size and ptosis was improving.
