Introduction…

After covid 19 pandemic and lockdown and restrictions, children have not attended school and their mobile usage has increased due to online classes. Mobile phones cause several health problems, myopia being one of them.

children 5- 14 yrs with history of mobile usage more than 5 hrs have been included.

Material and methods

Children attending online classes and using mobile for more than 6 hrs were included.

Children with family history of myopia or those who were using glasses before are excluded

Results..

Most children had myopia more than 3 diopters.

Discussion

In our study , we have found a direct correlation between myopia and mobile usage. Several other studies have implicated mobile phones to have multiple problems. After the classes the children use mobile for entertainment and chatting and social media

Conclusion

Technology should be used with caution and mobile phone usage should be restricted to avoid high myopia
