Abstract
Craniopharyngioma’s are benign tumour’s arising from supracellar area of brain . They are derived from the craniopharyngeal duct epithelium of the Rathke pouch or squamous metaplasia with consequent formation of cell nests. An 8 year old boy presented with blurring of vision associated with headache and vomiting. On examination , he had stunted growth, visual acuity- both eye counting fingers at 3 meters & fundus showed bilateral optic atrophy. MRI showed Craniopharyngioma. Patient had no PL within a week of admission . He underwent left fronto temporal pterional craniotomy and SOL excision along with radiotheraphy in 2019. Histology showed adamantinomatous type . Patient again presented with headache & vomiting after a year. CT Brain with contrast showed – residual/recurrent lesion . There was no PL with fundus -B/L optic atrophy . He underwent V.P shunt procedure. This case shows the recurrence and the treatment given was to improve the quality of life of the patient.
