Abstract
AIM: Fishing is a popular recreational activity in rural areas. Fortunately, fish hooks seldom cause penetrating eye damage. Fish hook prongs piercing the ocular tissues are the most common cause of these injuries. A rare example of piercing fish hook injury to the globe is described, as well as its successful surgical treatment. METHODS: A 32- year-old male was referred to the causality with a fish hook embedded in his left eye with pain and discharge. RESULTS: Under local anesthesia, the hook was withdrawn through the entrance wound. And globe repair done with conjunctival hooding. CONCLUSION: Visual prognosis can be profoundly affected by the initial management in cases of penetrating globe injury and in this case the globe is maintained and man got traumatic cataract and resulted in a visual outcome of perception of light in left eye.
