Abstract
Capsular contraction syndrome(CCS) is a known but uncommon complication of modern cataract surgery. The incidence of CCS in femtolaser cataract surgery( FLACS) is not reported. Clinical data from preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative period of 225 FLACS patients and 453 manual phaco patients who underwent surgery between December 2018 to Dec 2020 by same surgeon were accesssed. 11 patients in manual phaco group and 2 in FLACS group needed treatment for CCS. In all the 13 patients, pre- existing risk factors for CCS were present. Only one patient needed surgical intervention. Remaining 12 patients were managed with Nd: YAG laser anterior capsulotomy. One patient needed multiple laser augmentation for recurrent fibrosis. No other complication was reported after a follow up of 6 months.
