Abstract

Aim- to determine the sequel of spectacle correction on the change in refractive errors in hyperopic children less than 15years of age with or without strabismus in a tertiary care centre of eastern INDIA.

Methods-A observational study was performed of patients with hyperopia,accommodative esotropia,exotropia.A total of 120 hyperopic children under 15 years of age were included.patients were classified into 4 groups.1)esotropia with full correction of hyperopia

2)exotropia with undercorrection of hyperopia

3)orthotropia with full correction of hyperopia

4)orthotropia with undercorrection of hyperopia

The 4 groups were matched by initial age on examination & equivalent spherical refractive error.

Results-the amount of undercorrection of hyperopia were correlated to the magnitude of decrease in hyperopia in all patients

conclusion-amount of undercorrection is significantly correlaed to change in hyperopic refractive error.
