Abstract

Aim: To study the efficacy of eplerenone in the treatment of bullous CSCR .

Study design: Retrospective interventional case series.

Material &methods:Four eyes of 4 patients with bullous CSCR who were treated with oral eplerenone 25 mg once daily and had at least 3 months of follow-up were included in the study. BCVA, FFA ,OCT were done at baseline and BCVA ,OCT was repeated at every follow-up visit .

Results: All the patients were male, only 1 patient gave h/o steroid use prior to onset.All the patients had complete resolution of macular and inferior bullous retinal detachment,2 eyes had complete resolution at the 3rd month follow-up ,1 eye at the 4th month follow-up and 1 eye at the 5th month follow-up.BCVA remained stable in 2 eyes and improved in 2 eyes, 2 eyes needed additional micropulse yellow laser.

Discussion: Bullous CSCR is a rare and severe variant of CSCR , characterised by dense subretinal fibrin and inferior bullous detachment .Eplerenone is beneficial in bullous CSCR.
