Abstract
PURPOSE: To analyse the outcomes of the corneal & corneo-scleral tear repairs with or without iris saving procedure in management of the corneal tears presenting with iris prolapse or iris presentation in the wound.
MATERIALS & METHODS: A consecutive series of patients who underwent corneal or corneo-scleral tear repair between January 2017 to May 2021 were analysed retrospectively. Only cases without posterior segment trauma were included. The cases were classified according to presentation of the wound and the status of iris tissue involvement. The cases presenting with iris prolapse or iris presentation in the wound were further divided in two groups, Group A where iris tissue was abscised and Group B where iris tissue was successfully reposited (Iris Saving procedure). The two groups were analysed in terms of age, duration of presentation, resurgeries required, rate of post-operative infection, final visual outcome and final iris status. The results are discussed in the paper
