Abstract
A study was conducted in tertiary health care center on visually impaired patients due to cataract and underwent small incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens placement. Among 105 eyes of 94 patients best corrected visual acuity was assessed preoperatively and postoperatively at day 1,1 week,4 week and were categorized as those with good vision, visually impaired and blind eye. Preoperatively 48(45.71%)eyes were blind,48(45.71%)eyes were visually impaired and 9(17.14%)eyes were having good vision. Postoperatively they improved to18(17.14%)eyes – blind, 9(8.56%)eyes – visually impaired and 78(74.29%)eyes – having good vision. Intraoperatively and postoperatively complications were observed in were 3(2.85%)eyes such as iris prolapse , posterior capsule rent and inferior haptic in anterior chamber.
