Abstract
Purpose:To characterize the improvement in visual acuity(VA) and ocular inflammation following the use of Jakinibs. Method:A retrospective study of 3 patients with ocular inflammation refractory to immunosuppressive & immunomodulatory therapy was conducted. Cases included were Panuveitis with Behcet’s disease, Necrotising scleritis with Rheumatoid arthritis, Recurrent Panuveitis with HLA B 27 positivity & Livedoid vasculopathy. 1 patient was started on Baricitinib, 2 on Tofacitinib (in addition to immunosuppressives) and were followed up for 6 months in terms of VA and response to ocular inflammation. Results:Mean age was 36.33 yrs. The mean LogMAR VA improved from 0.933 to 0.85. The AC and vitreous reaction showed complete resolution following use of Jakinibs whereas scleritis showed a partial response. Conclusion:Jakinibs are novel therapy introduced in refractory non-infectious ocular inflammations. They are shown to be efficacious in scleritis and uveitis including Behcet’s uveitis
