Abstract
PURPOSE-To corelate levels of inflammatory markers(IM) with severity/extent of ocular manifestations(OM) in CAM.
METHOD – A prospective corelative study conducted at a tertiary COVID 19 hospital between MAY 2021 and July 2021,where 85 patients with CAM were categorized into mild, moderate and severe based on ocular examination and corelated with IM like CRP, LDH, ferritin and IL6.
RESULT- A total of 77 CAM patients were examined, out of which 49(63.6%) were male and 28(36.3%) were female, of them 26(33.7%) had mild, 24(31.2%) had moderate and 27(35.1%) had severe OM, the mean value of IM like CRP, LDH, ferritin and IL6 were 102.4, 392.8, 775.6, 14.08 in mild, 133.4, 404.1,900.2, 30.8 in moderate and 150, 416.7, 1061.6, 40.1 in severe cases respectively.
CONCLUSION- This prospective corelative study suggest that IM as a significant predictor of severity/extent of OM which help in recognizing the disease at its early stage and halting its progression by early intervention.
