Abstract

Retrospective analysis of patients who underwent cornea tear repair with additional surgical procedures on the same sitting or as a staged procedure at our centre. Patients who underwent cornea tear repair elsewhere were excluded from our study.

Results – Out of 51 pts, Age(16- <18yrs; 35>18yrs), Gender(43- Males; 7-Females). Mode of injury- 22 with organic matter (most common stone) and 29 from inorganic matter. Thirty eight patients had full thickness corneal tear with cataract for which tear repair and lens aspiration was done. Secondary IOL was done sequentially for 17 patients within 2-4 months. Post op BCVA >6/18 in 82.3%(14). Five patients underwent sequential; cataract surgery with IOL within 2-8 months. 60% (3) had BCVA >6/18. 15 patients underwent sequential vitreoretinal surgery for IOFB (4 pts), VH, RD or CD and 5 underwent SFIOL subsequently. 2 patients with organic trauma developed post op infection.Staged surgical procedure showed better visual outcomes in our study.
