Abstract
Abstract:
We present a rare case of a 52-year-old female with complaint of dimness of vision in BE for 1 month and altered color perception. She was diagnosed as presumed ocular TB uveitis with complicated cataract with high myopia. She took treatment for uveitis in form of topical and systemic steroids. She was on Anti-Koch’s treatment since 5 months.
Result:
(BE) colour vision were compromised .(BE)visual field suggested central scotoma.(BE)fundus suggested partial optic atrophy .All these findings were suggesting towards ethambutol toxicity.
Conclusion:
We must look for near vision and colour vision in patient who are on AKT to rule out ethambutol toxicity. The drug toxicity can occur anytime within 1-36 months after starting the drug. Prompt discontinuation of drug is critical to prevent permanent visual loss and irreversible optic atrophy.
