Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence and clinical profile of headache in patients seen for an ocular examination.

Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted at Ophthalmology Department of a tertiary eye centre from July to September 2021.Patients with headache either presenting or referred in ophthalmology OPD were included. A predesigned proforma was used to collect data. Complete ocular examination and investigations were conducted along with neuro-ophthalmological examination. Data analysis was done using SPSS 16. Results: Prevalance 0f headache was 14.4%. Conditions associated with headache were divided as ocular, non-ocular and combined pathologies. Among ocular causes, asthenopia was a major entity as 31(20.39%) asthenopic patients presented with refractive errors. These were followed by presbyopics and computer users . Among the non-ocular causes were hypertension 19 (12.5%), sinusitis 18(11.82 %) and migraine 21(13.81%).
