Abstract
Purpose: To present the outcomes of anterior lamellar Keratoplasty for a case of post LASIK epithelial ingrowth.
Methods: This is a case of recurrent epithelial ingrowth in a case of microkeratome Lasik. The patient had Lasik 18 years back which land up in under-correction. Flap lift and laser augmentation were done in both eyes. After which he developed epithelial ingrowth in both eyes. The stromal bed was washed multiple times in the right eye. Recurrence of epithelial ingrowth was seen every time in both eyes. This recurrence in EI causes diminution of vision, photophobia, watering, etc. Femtosecond laser-assisted anterior lamellar Keratoplasty was planned as a last resort to completely get rid of recurrent EI.
Results: Significant improvement in BCVA was seen. All the preoperative symptoms were gone. No recurrence was noted in the postoperative period.
Conclusion: This procedure showed good and effective results in curing the recurrence of recalcitrant epithelial ingrowth.
