Abstract
Serpiginous choroiditis(SC) usually begins in the peripapillary area & spreads centrifugally. Lesions resembling SC seen in patients of ocular tuberculosis(TB) are labelled as serpiginous like choroiditis.
Case report:A 15-year old male presented with sudden onset of bilateral painless gradual vision loss since 1 month.
Best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) was 6/380 in Right eye(RE) & 6/9 in left eye(LE). Anterior segment was Within Normal Limits(WNL).
Fundoscopy revealed multifocal continuous centrifugally spreading choroditis along the blood vessels involving macula in both eyes(BE).The lesions resembled Serpiginous like pattern.Chest xray was WNL.QuantiFERON®TB Gold was positive. Treatment:Patient was started on antituberculous treatment.Posterior Sub-tenon injection of triamcinolone was given in BE.Patient was started on oral steroids and showed improvement in BCVA.
Conclusion:Ocular TB may present with serpiginous like choroiditis. This differentiation is very crucial for treatment.
