Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate changes in OCT biomarkers in NPDR patients after treatment with intravitreal Ranibizumab.METHOD: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 32 eyes of 26 patients of NPDR, treated with Ranibizumab with 4 months of follow-up.RESULTS: Mean improvement of visual acuity was 0.29±0.31 in logMAR chart, mean reduction in central macular thickness and parafoveal maximum thickness were 140.47±131.79µm and 134.09±130.01µm respectively after 4 Months. Hyperreflective Foci decreased significantly at the end of follow up (p=0.0014). Eyes with subretinal fluid at baseline was related to better visual gain (p = 0.04). Disorganisation of Inner Retinal Layer, Intraretinal Cystic Space, External limiting membrane and Ellipsoid Zone disruption were associated with poor visual improvement with p value of 0.028, 0.03,0.42 and 0.18 respectively.CONCLUSION: OCT biomarkers are useful in diabetic retinopathy patients for visual prognosis and objective monitoring of treatment outcome.
