Abstract
Objectives: To search Apps that help persons with amblyopia in a very simple and convenient way, right on their own phone. Materials and Methods: The Google play store and the Apple store were searched in September 2021 for amblyopia apps. Ophthalmology or optometry apps were excluded. Results: apps were identified; few in Android or iOS only and few are in both Android and iOS. Most of the apps were available under the medical category; the price of the games ranged from $0.00 to $32.00 (USD). Nearly half of the apps (45%) were to be played binocularly either using red–green goggles or a virtual reality set. Only one app was developed in collaboration with a research group and a children’s hospital. Conclusions: Those apps are in Play Store, so could be accessed by all children and young people who have visual problems. Those applications could also be used in optician and optometry offices, ophthalmic and paediatric clinics, as well as in educational institutions.
