Abstract
INTRODUCTION :We report a case of upper lid penetrating injury with simple-single barbed fishhook for unusual pattern with no other injury to eyeball
CASE REPORT :A 11 year old Sindhu was brought by her parents with complaint of fishhook injury to right upper lid
Visual acuity : Both eyes – 6/6
In Right eye a penetrating injury with a fishhook was present, which entered through palpebral conjunctiva at lateral one third area with no other injury. Only Conjunctival congestion and chemosis was present. Under topical anaesthesia & local infiltration with 2% lignocaine, hook was gently removed with slight incision to adjacent palpebral conjunctiva and tarsus muscle along the orientation of hook & no sutures were placed. Patient recovered very well within one week. It was a fishhook trauma, but this can be treated and sutureless & scarless removal is possible. All that requires is a knowledge about anatomy and timely & correct intervention
