On examination, at 2 months, a skin-coloured swelling over lateral aspect of left lower lid, arising from palpebral conjunctiva, compressible 5X4 mm in size. Skin over swelling showed dilated vessels that became prominent when infant cried. Anterior segment was normal. Child observed for 3 months. At 5 months, swelling increased to involve the entire left lower lid, 1X2cm & skin over swelling showing mild bluish discolouration. Intralesional injection of Triamcinalone 80mg administered, drastic reduction observed in 2 weeks.
Cavernous hemangioma is rare in children. If present, it proliferates during the 1styear of life & later regress with fibrosis. As swelling grows in size, it causes vision-threatening complications like astigmatism, strabismus, & amblyopia due to visual deprivation. Thus, it has to be regularly followed up & treated in time.
