Abstract
Papilledema is a common presentation in neuroophthalmology clinic.IIHT is the commonest cause followed by CVT, a thromboembolic event. The risk of CVT is elevated in COVID 19 Scenario which prompts sharp attention towards this disease for all papilledema cases. Our study intends to determine the changing trend in the aetiology of papilledema in COVID era. This retrospective study involved 243 patients, divided into pre covid and covid era groups.Clinical profile, visual acuity, fundoscopy, visual field,USG Bscan and MRI of each patient were analyzed.CVT had a much higher incidence for covid era group(p=0.029). Gross defective vision and restricted visual fields were more in patients with CVT and intracranial tumours. It indicates necessity of prompt management of cases presenting with gross defective vision and restricted visual fields which can not only save patients’ vision but also their lives as very frequently ophthalmic signs are the first signs manifested.
