Abstract
METHOD: ROP data over a period of 2 yrs from 3 centers was collected retrospectively & divided into two groups. Group A (pre COVID period) & Group B (Lockdown). Characteristics taken into consideration were BW, GA, fundus findings, any treatment. Total number of babies screened, number of ROP detected and number of babies requiring treatment were compared between the two groups. Total number of babies screened was 916 in group A and 568 in group B. 26.1%babies were detected to have ROP in group B where as 28.3% babies had ROP in group A. There was no significant difference between the gestational age between the two groups. There was significant difference in birth weight of babies between the two groups. Treatable ROP was significantly high in group B with p value <0.001with 9.15 % babies treated in group B and 4.58% babies treated in Group A. CONCLUSION: Treatable ROP increased significantly during Lockdown and COVID-19 pandemic period in spite of a lesser number of babies screened.
