Abstract
A retrospective study was conducted including all consecutive cases with vitreoretinal (VR) manifestations following confirmed COVID-19 disease from July’20- June’21 in a tertiary multispecialty institute. 10 eyes of 7 patients (6 female; 1 male) were included. Manifestations included endogenous endophthalmitis (EE; 7 eyes of 4 patients), retinal vascular occlusion (RVO;1), paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM;1) and unilateral acute exudative maculopathy (UAEM;1). Three EE patients had bilateral involvement with proven fungal origin and previously received systemic steroid for severe COVID. Four eyes with EE underwent PPV; however two eyes had guarded outcome. The RVO, PAAM and UAEM patients suffered from mild COVID and did not receive any prior systemic steroid. The PAMM and UAIM patients recovered completely but the RVO patient had poor visual outcome. This study highlights spectrum of post-COVID VR manifestations and warrants awareness among ophthalmologists and physicians.
