Abstract
Aim: To find an association between neovascularisation (NV) site with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) parameters in proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR)
Methods: In a prospective study, 52 eyes of PDR were examined for the site of NV and parafoveal retino-choroidal OCTA parameters.
Results: The NV Disc had a significant association with the foveal avascular zone (p=0.05) but not with perimeter (p=0.08) and circularity index (p=0.06); had an insignificant negative association (p=0.09) with vessel density (VD) in the superficial, deep and outer retina; chorio-capillaries and choroid. The NV elsewhere had an insignificant negative association with FAZ (p=0.07), perimeter (p=0.08) and circularity index (p=0.06); insignificant association (p=0.08) with VD in the superficial, deep and outer retina; chorio-capillaries and choroid.
Conclusion: Enlarged FAZ is a risk factor for NVD. The NVE cannot be predicted from parafoveal OCTA measurements.
