Abstract

Management of Uveitic Glaucoma with cataract is an arduous job but if done meticulously and diligently can save the sight of a patient.

Uveitis can present with complicated cataract and uncontrollable intraocular pressures(IOP)which need to be treated surgically. In cases with uveitis sequelae like occlusion pupillae and shallow anterior chamber(AC), a Central Membranotomy(CM) can save the day by forming the AC, thus lowering the IOP to some extent. .A 64 year old male with history of uveitis 8 years ago presented with only perception of light, occlusion pupillae, shallow AC and high intraocular pressures. A CM led to partial decrease in IOP.Patient underwent successful combined glaucoma and cataract surgery with post operative vision gain to 1/60. Non dilating pupil , corneal haze and high intraocular pressures can act as obstacles in the path to successful surgery. Even though the surgical management may be difficult , if done in time can give some useful vision to the patient.
