Abstract
AIM- to assess the mask related problems in ophthalmology. METHODS- Prospective randomised study of eye care professionals. Questionnaire consisting of total hours of wearing mask, number of patients examined in OPD along with difficulty arising with masks was assessed. Based on the assessment results were concluded. RESULTS- 50 eye care professionals participated. All optometrists (10) complained of fogging of trial glasses while correcting visual acuity. All Ophthalmologists (40) complained of fogging of eye piece objective & 90D lens on examination of patient on slit lamp examination. there was excessive fogging of operating microscope as well. Most resorted to holding breath while examining the patient. Suggestion of wearing a tape was given by most of them. Conclusion- With wearing mask being a dictum in today’s age, the examination of a patient for an ophthalmologist has become cumbersome. applying diluted soap solution to the objectives also acts beneficial while examining.
