Abstract
INTRODUCTION- Charles Bonnet syndrome causes a person whose vision has started to deteriorate to see things that are not real (hallucinations). CASE PRESENTATION- A 65-year-old female patient residing in an old age home with no history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus presented with gradual painless loss of vision since 2 years. Due to covid pandemic lockdown her vision deteriorated & she started developing visual hallucinations last 6 months. Vison was light perception positive in both eyes. Pupil were briskly reactive to light with pearly white reflex in the pupil suggestive of mature cataract in both eyes. She gave history of seeing detailed figures of people appearing in front of her throughout the day. She did not have any other hallucinations & there was no history of substance use. Her orientation was intact. CONCLUSION- The progression of mature cataract in both eyes with visual hallucination which disappeared after cataract surgery are suggestive of Charles Bonnet syndrome.
