Abstract
Optic disc melanocytoma is a benign tumor having a predisposition to malignant melanoma transformation.
A deeply pigmented lesion occurs in the optic disc sometimes showing a continuous involvement of adjacent retina and choroid Asymptomatic, can however cause a mild to severe visual loss due to spontaneous necrosis or due to optic nerve compression.Thus optic disc melanocytoma needs to be properly evaluated and its diagnosis established with a periodic follow up to avoid unnecessary enucleation, thereby preventing cosmetic incarceration for life.
32yr/m with h/o of headache for 8 yrs.On examination,vision was normal.Fundus revealed LE 3/4th DD pigmented elevated lesion in the inferior half of the Disc.OCT shows- 2 mm elevation of the optic disc.FFA shows block fluorescence.B-Scan shows high level of internal reflectivity.
