Abstract

ROP Screening is must in premature babies. Also it is cumbersome to attend NICU and do indirect Ophthalmoscopy in each premature baby.

We have come out with a novel model which can be adopted across India to combat blindness due to ROP. ‘Aarambh ROP Screening Project’ comprises two Retina Specialists; One Pediatric Ophthalmologist & Two ROP Screening Technicians With the help of Indigenous Forus Neo Fundus Camera. ROP Screening is performed in Eight Districts of Maharashtra. Tele-ROP Screening Model is utilized.

Around 4523 Babies were screened in last 42 Months. 148 Babies were given appropriate treatment (Laser or Anti-VGEF Injection). This Model has been found successful and proves a novel option to be adopted across India to curb ROP Blindness in India.
