Abstract
A retrospective study to evaluate the clinical outcome of tarsorrhaphy in patients with non healing, progressive, infective total corneal infiltrate.12 eyes were included in the study between March 2020 to march 2021.TKP was deferred as donor corneas were not accessible due to COVID-19. Para central tarsorrhaphy was performed in all eyes, followed by medications depending on the etiology of ulcer. In eyes with perforation, glue with BCL was placed. At 4 weeks post op, stable corneal melt with total epithelialization was considered successful outcome. The study included 12 eyes of 12 patients with total corneal infiltrate. 8 presented with iris prolapse/ perforation. At 1 month post tarsorrhaphy, 11 eyes showed stable corneal melt. 1 eye had progression of corneal ulcer who underwent TKP later . 91.66% eyes showed resolution of signs with stable corneal melt. Tarsorrhaphy can be considered as a temporary option in total corneal ulcer, until a donor cornea is available for TKP.
