Abstract

Purpose of the study- To find out burden of retinoblastoma cases at our center, its grouping, clinical staging and association with demographic factor.

Material and Methods: A hospital-based observational cross-sectional study was carried out on all referred and newly diagnosed patients of retinoblastoma. Data collected was analyzed for demographic characteristics, socio-economic status, clinical features, grouping, staging of the disease. Period of study was from january 2018 to December 2018. The data was analyzed using SPSS software version 20.

Result: Burden of disease was 4.5 per 10,000 patients. The male to female ratio was 2.2:1. The mean age at presentation was 30.86 months ±19.5 months. The most common presenting symptom was leukocoria 31(81.57%) . 80% were in advanced group D or E at the time of presentation.

Conclusion: We concluded that majority of patients in our study belonged to lower socio-economic strata and presented with advanced disease.
