Abstract
Purpose : To report a rare presentation of infantile esotropia presenting in esophoric stage and it’s successful outcome after chemodenervation
Method : A 12 year old presented with complaints of occasional inward deviation of both eyes alternatively since birth. On examination RE 6/9 -0.5DS 6/6 and LE 6/9-0.25DS 6/6 with normal anterior segment and fundus, with inferior oblique overaction on versions, latent nystagmus on cover uncover test, on alternate cover test phoric form of DVD seen with binocular single vision and good stereopsis and no systemic and neurological abnormalities
Results : Patient was given Botox injection 2.5U to both MR. On follow up patient showed significant reduction in the frequency of intermittency of the deviation and HCRT was central
Conclusion : Infantile esotropia presenting as Esophoria is rare and the role of Botox in such cases needs to be explored further.
