Abstract
Aim: To report an unusual case of sudden dislocation of posterior chamber intraocular lens.
Method: A 60 year old diabetic male came with chief complain of sudden painless diminution of vision in left eye. He has history of cataract surgery done in both eyes 10 years back. He has no history of trauma, raised IOP etc. The patient underwent detailed ophthalmic examination including visual acuity, refraction, slit lamp examination, fundus examination and OCT.
Result: On detailed slit lamp examination affected eye had ruptured posterior capsule and dislocation of PCIOL. The PCIOL was visible floating in vitreous. Few cells were present in vitreous. BCVA in affected eye with aphakic correction was 20/30. Rest of the fundus was within normal limit. Right eye was pseudophakic & within normal limit.
Conclusion: There may be some cases of sudden dislocation of PCIOL without any unknown reasons.
