Abstract
CSCR is an idiopathic serous detachment of the sensory retina at macula secondary to leakage from choriocapillaries through a hyperpermeable RPE, affecting middle aged men with unilateral blurring of vision. Mild cryoretinopexy at the temporal retina may enhance rapid resolution of subretinal fluid with recovery of vision. AIM : Assess the efficacy of mild cryoretinopexy in the temporal retina beyond the temporal vascular arcades, in the treatment of acute CSCR of ≤ 3 months duration. METHODS: This is a prospective analysis of 21 patients with acute CSCR of ≤ 3 months. They are treated with multiple spots of mild cryoretinopexy in the temporal retina.Follow up is at 1 month to assess visual and functional outcome.RESULTS: At 1 month, 16 eyes show marked resolution of CSCR and improvement of vision. Five patients maintained almost similar condition. CONCLUSION: Mild cryoretinopexy at the temporal retina enhances the resolution of subretinal fluid in CSCR. This is a novel technique.
