Abstract
Post fever retinitis (PFR) is a group of retinal manifestations that occurs days to weeks after an episode of febrile illness, irrespective of etiology. It is an infectious or para-infectious uveitic entity caused by several viral, or bacterial agents commonly seen in tropical countries. By the time the patients seek ophthalmologist’s attention they are afebrile. Irrespective of the etiology clinical presentations remain same, so it is difficult to pin-point the exact etiology based on clinical findings alone. Treatment depends on the definitive etiology. We have a series of three cases of post fever retinitis. All three patients with different proven etiologies were managed with appropriate anti microbial agents and had good visual recovery. We also emphasize the coordination between physician and ophthalmologist in managing these cases. Hence, here we discuss the spectrum of etiology, clinical features, evaluation and management of these cases.
