Abstract
Aim: To study clinical course of Herpes zoster ophthalmicus (HZO) and compare its demographic profile,treatment outcomes in patients aged 45 years or above v/s aged <45 years. Method:Retrospective analysis of 116 clinically diagnosed HZO patients from 2016 to 2020 with documentation of Anterior segment treatment,surgical procedure and complication & follow-up at various intervals. Results:Total 116 patiens (60 patients <45 years & 56 patients 45 years or above) examined. Delayed herpes zoster pseudodendrites were more common in younger patients. Postherpetic neuralgia,neurotrophic keratpathy were frequent in older patients. Corneal perforation,corneal thinning found equally prevalent in both age group. HZO occurrences in male &female were in similar fashion and number. Conclusion: Younger patients had more episode of Delayed herpes zoster pseudodendrites while older patients had more problem related to neurotrophic keratopathy.Male &female had equal predilection for HZO.
