Abstract

Aim To study the extent and visual rehabilitation of animal bite injuries

Materials and methods

5 cases of animal bite (3 cases of dog bite and 2 cases of bull horn injury)were included in this study.3 paediatric patients and 2 adults of bull horn injury were included .The extent of damage causing to the anterior, posterior segment and lids were noted .All 5 cases needed operative management .

Results Paediatric cases age ranges from 1 to 10 years old .All were males.Corneo scleral suturing were needed in 4 cases ..Both the adults had associated globe perforation as well .The visual outcome was guarded in them .

Conclusion Immediate access to treatment is needed in case of injuries arising from animal bites or horn injuries .Delay in getting medical help puts the patient at risk of losing structural and functional loss.
