Abstract
Purpose: To detect ophthalmic problems in residents at Old Age Home & to provide early treatment.Methods:336 residents of old age home in west Maharashtra were screened for various Ophthalmic problems from July2020 to june 2021.Results:All were presbyopes. 147 had bilateral Immature Cataract, 5 Mature Cataract, 3 Hypermature Cataract with Glaucoma, 41 bilateral Pseudophakia, 11 Pseudophakia in one eye & Mature cataract in other eye, 6 Pseudophakia in one eye & Aphakia in other eye; 8 bilateral Aphakia. 5 Corneal opacites, 8 pseudophakic bullous keratopathy, 11 Glaucoma, 3 Chronic dacryocystits, 13 Diabetic retinopathy & 21 Age Related Macular Degeneration. Medication & presbyopic glasses provided at spot in 37 residents. For investigations & operations, residents were brought to hospital. Conclusion:Ocular examination & addressing the visual problems of residents help in restoring vision which in turn is useful in day to day activities & improve quality of life.
