Primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) poses a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. It is a disease that requires life-long follow-up and the goal remains to achieve the best outcome possible, despite the challenges in its management. The present course sheds light on these important aspects. This course will present a holistic approach in the care of children with PCG. This will include the clinical evaluation, medical and surgical options, optical correction, and low vision rehabilitation strategies. Long-term visual and surgical outcomes will be shared with the participants. Patient stories of educational achievements and challenges along with employment profiles, quality of life and life satisfaction will be discussed.
At the conclusion of the course, attendees will be able to have a greater insight into the challenges and triumphs of management of glaucoma-afflicted children, transitioning into adulthood.
