Holistic management of a patient is a well discussed topic but well being of a surgeon is a rundown entity.Holistic well being involves spiritual,physical,emotional,social and mental balance.With unpredictable work schedule,it is hard for us to achieve a work life balance.The very thought of a possible complication is an oppressive feeling,whether or not they actually occur.Admist these stress,it is not uncommon for us to have a meagre or no meal day.Emotionally,spiritually and socially balanced surgeons are in control of their thoughts and feelings.They are able to better cope with challenges and can bounce back easily from set backs.Good level of nutrition and effective exercise program helps us to be physically fit and counteract one of the occupational hazards-poor posture.This instruction course consisting of eminent ophthalmologists,stresses upon the importance of well being of a surgeon with respect to mind,body and soul guiding us to practice effectively throughout our career.
