Abstract
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE(AI) IS DRIVEN BY HUMONGOUS AMOUNTS OF DATA FOR TRAINING AND IMPLEMENTATION. THE COVID PANDEMIC HAS ACCELERATED DIGITIZATION OF BUSINESSES. TELEMEDICINE IS IN ITS NASCENT DEVELOPMENT. IS TELEOPHTHALMOLOGY THE FUTURE OR IS IT JUST GOING TO BE A PASSING FAD? THIS COURSE DISCUSSES THE CHALLENGES BEFORE TELEOPHTHALMOLOGY AND HOW IT IMPACTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF AI. IMAGE ACQUISITION OF FUNDUS BY PHOTOGRAPHS, OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY AND VISUAL FIELDS HAS ALREADY DEMONSTRATED POTENTIAL IN DIABETIC RETINOPATHY, RETINOPATHY OF PREMATURITY, GLAUCOMA, MACULAR OEDEMA AND AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION. THIS COURSE SENSITIZES THE OPHTHALMOLOGIST TO CURRENT PARADIGMS AND TECHNIQUES IN THE FIELDS OF TELEOPHTHALMOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. IT ALSO EXPLAINS HOW TO BECOME AN ACTIVE PART OF THE DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY.
